Kew Technik introduces the new Super Series range of VDE 1000V certified pliers and cutters, offering the maximum level of safety for electricians and others working on electrical installations.
Made in Germany to aerospace specifications, the
Super Series fully complies with IEC 900, DIN EN 60900 and VDE 0680/201,
offering the best available protection against accidentally cutting
through a live cable.
The insulated non-slip grips of the Super Series are made from a resilient, non-slip TPE material that is injection moulded onto the handles for the firmest possible bond.
Ordinary 1000V pliers have PVC grips glued on to the handles, and over time this bond may be weakened, presenting the risk of the grips slipping off in use.
For maximum security, the Super Series also has a bolt fixed through the grips and into the handle of the pliers, making it impossible for the grips to slip.
The TPE material is resistant to most contaminants including cutting oil, hydraulic fluid and aviation fuels, making them suitable for use in almost any application including aerospace engineering.
The Super Series, which also features hardened steel jaws for maximum performance and long life, is subjected to the most rigorous testing regime before approval by the German standard body VDE. After being immersed in water for 24 hours each pair of pliers is individually tested at 10000V for three minutes.
They are then frozen to -25°C before being heated to 70°C for 168 hours, after which they must pass a tensile strength test to ensure the insulated grips do not lift off the handles.
Next, the pliers must simultaneously withstand a pressure test, a temperature of 70°C and 5000V with no damage to the insulation. Finally, they are exposed to flames for 10 seconds.
Only when they have passed all these tests do the pliers receive the "GS" mark from the VDE - the assurance that the Super Series is the safest range of 1000V tools available.
The Super Series range comprises 160mm and 200mm combination pliers, 160 mm and 200mm long nose pliers, 160mm and 200mm diagonal cutting pliers and 160mm stripping pliers.
