Rugged 400V three phase tester completes Socket & See range

Kew Technik introduces the Socket & See SOK 60/16HD, a heavy duty 400V, 16A tester for checking the sequence of rotation and presence of all phases and earth in three phase electrical supplies.

Kew Technik Socket & See SOK 60/16HD tester With its tough polycarbonate casing protected by a rubber holster, the rugged SOK 60/16HD can be taken onto site with confidence, and is a valuable addition to the toolbox of any electrical engineer, maintenance technician or end user working with industrial three phase supplies.

It is also ideal for checking the safety of three phase supplies provided to lorries and coaches when parked for long periods and a range of other temporary or mobile installations, such as outside broadcast units, fairground rides and small ships.

The new tester enables personnel with or without specialist electrical knowledge to check the safety of a socket outlet in seconds and preventing the potentially serious consequences of connecting to a supply with the wrong phase rotation, a missing phase or no earth.

The SOK 60/16HD comes with a 16A BSEN 60309 (BS 4343) four pin plug moulded onto the test lead, ensuring a quick and safe connection to the socket under test. An adapter is also available enabling the SOK 60/16HD to test 32A socket outlets.

It produces an instant phase sequence indication, with three green LEDs rotating clockwise and a continuous tone indicating clockwise phase rotation. Three red LEDs rotating the opposite way and a warbling tone indicate anti-clockwise phase rotation.

The presence of all three phases is indicated by the illumination of three green LEDs, with each phase clearly identified as L1, L2 and L3 in accordance with current European practice.

Also new to the Socket & See range of ruggedised industrial testers are the SOK 40/16HD 3 pin 230V 16A tester and the SOK 50/16HD 3 pin 110V 16A tester. The 230V tester provides rapid indication of correct or faulty wiring, with faults detected including live-earth reverse, live-neutral reverse and faulty or missing live, neutral or earth connections.

Ideal for applications such as checking the safety and suitability of the electrical supplies used to connect caravans, mobile homes or yachts to the mains, the SOK 40/16HD protects equipment and users from potentially dangerous supplies.

The 110V version clearly indicates the position of L1 and L2 and centre tap, and is designed for testing the safety of electrical supplies for power tools used on construction sites across the UK.

The launch of these new heavy duty testers completes Kew Technik's comprehensive line up of 110V, 230V and 400V testers. All Kew Technik Socket & See testers come with moulded on plugs, clear audible as well as visual indication of a "good" or "faulty" supply and a two year guarantee.
