Check safety of electrical sockets with easy-to-use mains wiring tester

The safety of the mains wiring to electrical sockets can now be checked by anyone in seconds, thanks to the easy to use Socket & See SOK32 tester from Kew Technik.

Kew Technik Socket & See SOK32 tester Just plug the SOK32 into a socket and this intelligent tester automatically carries out a series of vital safety checks on the wiring.

Using bright, long life LEDs to indicate wiring status, the logical "green for go" indication ensures fail-safe operation - unless all the LEDs light green and a continuous tone is heard there may be a fault requiring further investigation by a qualified electrician.

The SOK32 is the first socket tester to indicate whether a fault is located on the earth, neutral or live part of the circuit. Using a logical system of green, amber and red LEDs together with clear diagrams shown on top of the tester itself, it makes diagnosis of 17 different fault conditions quick and simple.

The SOK 32 has a powerful built-in microprocessor and features a unique self-test facility that ensures it is working correctly before use.

It does not require batteries, using the mains power to generate a tiny test current of just under 15 mA. This avoids tripping out RCDs if fitted while detecting crossed, disconnected or broken wires without producing false signals.

With electrical incidents causing around 5,000 house fires and hospitalising 500 people every year, the SOK32 provides the peace of mind that sockets are wired correctly.

While many people believe that a socket must be wired correctly if an appliance works when plugged in, a number of potentially dangerous faults such as lack of earth or crossed neutral and live wires would not prevent the socket working normally.

Sockets should be tested periodically to ensure they are safe and it is especially advisable to check sockets after they have been disturbed during decorating, tiling or any work on the wiring.

The SOK32 is manufactured to the highest international standards by Kew Technik, one of the UK's leading suppliers of electrical tools and testers. The SOK32 is used by thousands of professional electricians to help them make a rapid diagnosis of wiring faults but is so easy to use it enables anyone to detect a wide range of common problems.

The Kew Technik Socket & See SOK32 costs just £19.95 and will available in most B&Q outlets from June.
