Many electrical contractors have successfully moved into the
large and growing data cabling market. They already have most of the
necessary skills needed and usually require only a little extra training,
a few essential tools and test instruments.
One stumbling block, however, has been poor availability of specialist data cabling tools and testers from electrical contractors' usual suppliers.
Now Kew Technik's stylish, practical and competitively priced range, packaged in convenient blister packs, will be readily available to electrical contractors via leading electrical wholesalers, as well as specialist data cabling distributors.
The Kew Technik catalogue also contains full details of all the precision cutters, pliers, strippers and crimpers needed to terminate standard Category 5 data cables to RJ45 and RJ11 sockets.
"Electrical contractors have all the expertise needed to install a structured cabling system, but many have been put off because they do not have the tools needed to make the terminations," says Richard Penney, Kew Technik Key Account Manager. "It isn't difficult to terminate data cables once you have the right tools, and with the launch of the ktdatacom range everything a contractor needs will be in their local electrical wholesaler."
Testing a data communications local area network (LAN) once it is complete is vital, and this does requires some additional knowledge and a specialist test instrument. The ktdatacom range includes three easy to use first line testers capable of testing local area networks (LANs).
Kew Technik is also looking to form a partnership with a suitable training organisation to provide appropriate training for electrical contractors wanting to move into this lucrative market.
